Story in If you would like to review a brief history of Apple/Mac Computers this link will provide you with some insights. www.internetnews.com/ent-news/article.php/3577496The first IBM PC went on sale on August 12, 1981. Apple had a nearly 5 1/2 year lead. IBM had developed an operating system called OS 2 which was felt to be adequate but the IBM corporation chose to negotiate with MicroSoft for their new Windows Operating System when they released their computer patens to open source. But remember the small personal computer was envisioned by Rand Coorperation some 50 years ago as represented by this prototype model forecast to be available by the year 2004. They didn't forsee GUI operating systems which led to wide spread use of computers in the later eighties. Comand line language like Fortran led to the DOS OS and Windows started as an add on to supplement it by 1986. Mac OS & Windows with their intuitive point and click ease were pivotal in bringing the use of personal computers to the masses and eliminating much of the need for computer training that existed prior. Perhaps that dark grey instrument pannel and dual wheels in the background are todays mouse and browser ?

This first Apple was just a prototype for computer club hobbyist. But, it is where it all started. Images circa 1975. Then it was about the same story for the first mouse. Intersting too........that they were made of wood.
